Silambam for IWG Brighton Helsinki Declaration
The Management Committee from the "World Silambam Association (WSA)," its continental body "Silambam Asia," the India National Committee from the "Silambam India Association," other national representatives, and the "World Yoga Association (WYA)" have attended the meeting to sign the Women and Sport Declaration in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Simultaneously, on 10 April 2021, Silambam India Association gathered state committee members and national committee members from more than seven (7) states for collaboration and development meetings. Several issues, solutions, and technical matters were discussed during both sessions (the Tamil Nadu State Meeting and the India National Meeting), which were held in Tamil Nadu, India.
Discussion about the Brighton Declaration for Women and Sport and the appointment of the "Silambam Women Committee" took place during this meeting.
In 1994, the Brighton Declaration was an international treaty to support a fairer and more inclusive inclusion of girls and women in sport and physical activities, which was developed and established by the International Working Group on Women and Sport.
"By signing this declaration, all our organizations (as mentioned above) will put forth greater efforts to promote equality, engage, build more comprehensive cooperation, and continue to support the IWG efforts on women and sport."
